my boys and such

I know I said I wasn't going to post again before we left....I lied! Not many people have been updating. Guess everyone is busy with Christmas coming. Anywho, just thought I'd give ya a little update...

This morning Santa came!! I guess I was good this year because he brought me some great gifts!! Andrew and Matt both got tools so I have to share this pic...
I have no idea how I got Andrew to actually look at the camera and smile!! That's part of the reason why we didn't do Christmas cards. The boy doesn't enjoy the camera as much as I do!! :)

We celebrated Christmas early because we are leaving to see family tomorrow. I'm really excited! It's been a while since we've seen family. Hopefully there will be no fighting!!! Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!

Andrew and Santa

Well, yesterday was a crazy day and it involved seeing Santa...along with the rest of the kids in The Woodlands. Last year the line was short...not this year! As you can see Andrew enjoyed seeing him. I was really worried he would cry. Guess that will probably be next year. I should also explain why I chose not to put his socks on shoes on...I knew his pants would get pushed up and I didn't like the look of it...however, after we had taken pictures I wished I had put them on. Oh well!

I probably won't blog again until we get back from seeing family. So, since I totally slacked this year and didn't do a Christmas card....MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

basket boy

Well, here's the video that my sister-in-law was talking about. Let me set the scene...while I'm folding laundry, hence the clothes in the background, Andrew plays in the basket. I don't mind because it keeps him from unfolding my clothes! :) Anyway, Matt was taking this video to try to get Andrew's new goofy laugh that he has. However, Andrew's true colors came out in the end!!

o christmas tree

I'm trying to do better at blogging...even though I don't have much to talk about!!

We are about to put up our Christmas tree. We bought a fake one this year since we will be traveling in a few weeks. Figured if we put up a real one we would a.) have to take it down before we leave...bah humbug! or b.) have pine needles all over the floor when we got home. We also thought about not putting one up, but I wanted to make sure that Andrew doesn't tear down anyone else's tree!! I want to enjoy my vacation with family and not fight with Andrew pulling stuff off their tree the whole time. We will see how it goes.

That's about it from here...look here and see who FINALLY updated!

my little helper

Here's Andrew doing his chores. Normally I hand him the clothes that go in the dryer...however, I had on my jammies and didn't want in the video! :)

just a random post...

Well, it's been a while since I've had a real post. Guess I'll fill you in on what's been going on here....

We weren't able to leave for Thanksgiving as Matt had to work that day. When he got off we headed to have dinner with friends. There was SO much food. I honestly think I gained 10 lbs. that day!! It was nice to be with friends since we don't have family here.

-------
Andrew is getting big and growing like a weed! He is now trying to get stuff off the counters and table! Just when I think I have it made!! He's also been in this "independent" phase. It's definitely a battle some days. He loves to be outside and literally throws a fit when we tell him it's time to come in. I really do hope this is a phase....um and one that ends before baby #2 gets here! He's talking a lot more these days. Trying to repeat what we say. Guess I need to watch my mouth!

-------
Went to the dr yesterday and baby #2 is doing great. I'm getting a belly...not nearly as big as the girls that are due around me, but I'm sure it will shoot out soon. Never fear tho, I will definitely put on the weight! Had no problem with that when I was pregnant with Andrew. Anyway, we will find out what we are having some time after Dec. 12. We are very excited!! Feel free to start placing your bets! :)

-------
Today I'm watching a friend's little boy. Andrew was very excited to have a friend over...

Andrew and his bedhead!

They had their moments where they both wanted the same thing...

but Andrew was cheerful in giving up his chair.

So that's about it from here! Going to cheer on the hogs! (not really..Matt is though)

Sorry I've been slacking on blogging lately. I'll write more later and fill you in on NOTHING that's been going on here. Meanwhile, here's my little stud..

HaPpY BiRtHdAy MATT!!!

Lately Andrew's been on this coloring kick. It's funny because the first time he was given a color was at church. I happened to be in his room that day and laughed when they called him to come sit at the table to color. Needless to say, the boy came to the table, took the crayon and ran! He had no clue what it was or what he was supposed to do with it. It was a big ordeal when I had to get the crayon back. Well, he's come a long way and will now actually color! So lately we've had him color pictures that we can send to his grandparents. He needs to have the big crayons, but all I have are the skinny ones. Maybe Santa will bring some!!!

Concentrating on coloring!

Trying to run away from the table with the crayon. It was a struggle....

...and somehow Andrew got it out of my hands (I didn't want to break it) and got it on his chair.

So from now on...this is how Andrew will be coloring. (Yes, I know the picture is sideways. I have to constantly turn the picture so he won't just color at the bottom of the page.)

pleasing the people

Before I get hate mail again....

I've been working on Andrew's scrapbook. I have about 3 more pages to do and I'm done!! WOO-HOO! I'm sure Andrew, being a boy, won't appreciate it as much as a girl, but I enjoy doing it for him. Maybe his wife will enjoy it!! I figure this next kiddo will be our last. :) I don't want to have to do too many albums for these kids!! It's a lot of work!

----

My sister and her family are coming in this weekend. She told me Monday...the day I started scrapping. So I had to hurry and finish his book because I don't want to pull all that stuff out for a while. Anyway, it will be a short trip for them. They'll get here Friday evening and then leaving early Sunday. I have a musical at church that I'm helping with so they are going to leave when I do. Kind of a bummer...but I've already committed at church.

That's all from here! Enjoying this cool weather...but not the hurricane winds we had today!

HERE PEOPLE!

Since I keep getting hate mail and comments about needing to update....here ya go!

Last week I kept a friends 9 month old for two days. Everyone kept saying how it was giving me experience for the one on the way. I disagree because who in their right mind would have children 7 months apart? It's hardly possible..unless you deliver early! Lord please don't let me go that early! Anyway, it was a lot of work, but Andrew had fun playing with her.

----
Andrew went to the Dr. today for his flu shot. I made Matt go with us. He has to go back in a month for part two of the shot. She said since this is the first time he's getting the shot he has to have two doses. Not really sure why.

----
I've been feeling pretty good with this pregnancy. Really can't complain. My belly hasn't popped yet. I have friends that are due within a week or so of me and they really have popped! I'm jealous and hope to pop soon because I'm tired of this in between stage!

the giggles

Today has been a blah day. We haven't done much besides straighten up the house. I was putting clothes away when I could hear Andrew cracking up at something in the front room. I went to check it out and then had to get my camera in on the action...

Hope you have a good weekend!

halloween

Since Andrew was so young last Halloween, we called this his first "real" Halloween. I think he enjoyed it...
Dressed up as Bret Favre...even though he didn't trick-or-treat.

Andrew says he can take on Bret Favre ANY DAY!!

Anxiously awaiting the trick-or-treaters.

Trying to sneak some candy. He wasn't sure what it was, but he knew it was leaving the house quickly! He had to get his hands on it!!!

Who me? I wasn't taking ANY candy!!!

pumpkin patch

This morning we met some friends at a pumpkin patch down the road. Since we had about 800 inches of rain these last two weeks I was afraid it would be a mud pit. It wasn't too bad. There were a couple of puddles and Andrew wanted to play in ALL of them! He tried picking up all sizes of pumpkins and got dirt all over his white shirt...why did I put him in a white shirt???This was the best picture we got of Andrew. (Plus it hid his big mud stain!)

I thought this was just a funny picture. He wasn't too sure what I was doing to him.

The fam

Picture of all the kiddos. It was pretty amusing trying to get this picture!!

a little gripe

Thanks everyone for the comments about baby #2. We are very excited! I've heard having 1 baby is easy and 2 is chaotic, so we will see. I thought 1 got chaotic at times!! :)

It amazes me what people have said to me since telling that we are pregnant. Just to share a few...

I always get the ...Oh! Congratulations!...then it's followed by...Now, how old is Andrew? I say how old he is and then feel like I have to justify it by saying...he'll be 22 1/2 months by the time the baby gets here. It annoys me because it's not like Andrew 6 months old! I want to say...this is perfect timing for us...don't question it!!!!!!!!!!

And 2 times now I've gotten the whole...was it planned!? How rude is that? One lady at my church said to me how she saw my name on the expectant mom's list. She said congratulations and....was this planned? I should have said..Yes! God's plan! I hardly even know this lady and was really annoyed that someone I hardly know would make that comment.

Okay, I'm done! Just had to gripe!!

I've been keeping a secret!!

It's been a hard secret to keep, but I've had my reasons why we needed to keep it a secret....I'll share that in a bit. Now it's time I can share...with the help of Andrew...

Okay, so really the shirt should read, "I'm going to be a big brother." I couldn't find one at the time. I figured it would get the point accross!

Matt and I had decided that this time if/when we get pregnant we would tell family in person. It's more fun that way. We've told my side of the family (over the past month) and haven't seen Matt's family to tell them yet. However, they will be here today!!! We didn't think we would see family until Christmas (which would have been SO hard for me to keep it a secret that long) but it has worked out for us to see/meet up with them before then. I haven't been able to share on here because my sister-in-law reads my blog...didn't want to spill the beans.

Anyway, I'm 10 1/2 weeks and my due date is May 15th. I'm feeling great these days. However, in the beginning I was pretty nauseous. Food didn't sound good at all. Thankfully when I hit 10 weeks all that went out the window!! Just had to share my news FINALLY!

rain, rain, go away!!

Man, it's done nothing but rain here for the past two days. We have needed some rain but not this flooding!! It did entertain Andrew for a while tho...

What's going on out there?

He decided that he would try to climb up the door. Who knows what that boy was thinking!!

We did get out in the rain today as Andrew had to go to the doctor. It was a 15 month well visit. Poor guy, I think he thought he was there to play. He was so excited and kept wanting to play with all the other sick kids. I just wanted our name called!! He had no idea what was about to happen behind those closed doors...shots!!! I had to prepare myself for this visit because last time I nearly cried with him! I hate how I have to hold his arms down! Why do I have to be the bad guy too?? So the doctor comes in and plays with Andrew and such... before he leaves he says Andrew will be getting 3 shots today. I said okay. He leaves and then the nurse came back. She makes the comment that he's getting 2 shots. I told her the doctor said it was 3. She proceeds to tell me they combined some and it will just be 2. I was happy with that! She gives the shots while I hold him down and Andrew SCREAMS! I immediately pick him up when it's over and try to calm him down. She leaves and I pack our stuff up and she comes back in saying..."I'm sorry Mrs. Landrum, you were right, it's supposed to be 3 shots." I couldn't believe! No way am I putting my child back down on that table because he might go into convulsions! He already had started to cry when she came back in...like he knew!!! She let me hold him for the last shot and he of course didn't like it one bit!! Poor guy! I sure hope there are no side effects from these shots. Guess we'll find out in the next couple of days. I have to take him back next week for a flu shot...maybe I'll send him with his daddy!!!!

grandparents visit

My parents were in this week for a visit. I sure wish we lived closer to family. With Matt's work schedule, it's hard for us to get away. I think we probably see both sides of our family about 3 times a year. Kinda stinks! I know I could travel with Andrew by myself to go see them, but it would be a tough trip and I'm too chicken. I didn't mind when Andrew was a baby, but now that he's older I worry about potty stops and occasional fits to get out of his seat.

Here's Grandma reading Andrew one of his favorite books. (Thanks Kristi!)

They got Andrew a pumpkin. At first he had no interests in it, but when Papa started pulling stuff out he was a little curious.

Matt carved the pumpkin. He did a great job and Andrew loves seeing it all lit up!!

It was a good visit and we wished they could have stayed longer. This weekend we have Matt's family coming. We are very excited about seeing them!! There visit will be short too...maybe it's us!?!?!

newest obsession

Andrew has had some obsessions. Here are a few.... bringing me ALL his shoes from his room one at a time...pressing the cd button on my laptop while I'm on it then running away when it opens .....and now it's taking the tupperware out of the cabinet. I will say it entertains him while I'm cooking and he has no interest in any other cabinet. Here he is caught in the act...

So he makes a big mess on the floor...

and then carries them off to his room...crazy boy!!

museum

Today we met some friends at The Children's Museum. It was our frist time to take Andrew and I think he actually enjoyed it. I think when he gets older he will enjoy it even more. He loved playing in 'the dig' area...until some kid stole his dinosaur. I had all to do to not knock that kid down because he DEFINITELY knew he was taking a toy from a baby...punk! Andrew found another dinosaur and went about his buisness.

They had this hat in there and for some reason Andrew kept it on!!

fun times

Today we took Andrew to the SplashPad. I thought they were closing in October, but found out they will stay open year round! Since it's hot here basically year round...I'm pumped!!

Here's Andrew thinking he's a stud in his wagon.

Cooling off his belly!

Andrew had issues with his hat today. Guess his head is getting big!

Here's Andrew and Matt running through the water. I, on the other hand, didn't want to get my hair wet!

the bachelor

I don't have the time or energy to go off on The Bachelor right now....however, this girl does and she is HILARIOUS!!!

here we go again..

So last Wednesday night was when I actually got sick and now Matt's sick! He started with it last night. I really didn't think anyone was going to get it here because we passed the 24 hour mark and everyone was feeling fine. I thought my dr always said you would catch it within 24 hours. So Matt called in sick this morning. He has it made as he's sleeping in bed while I'm taking care of Andrew. I feel bad because I passed it on to him, but he kept saying how he wasn't going to catch it because he has an awesome immune system...or something like that. Guess his immune system was down this week! So now I'm just praying that Andrew doesn't get it...ugh! Well, I better get going.

flu season is here...ugh!

Yep! I know this because I just got over it. UGH! It's a pain being sick with a kiddo at home. I started getting sick Wednesday night and any time I'd move I'd get sick! I worried about how I was going to watch Andrew Thursday because Matt had to work. How would I keep an eye on him if I'm puking?! I secretly wanted Matt to stay home...but somebody has to pay the bills around here!! I was up all that night and Andrew was ready to start his day at 7 AM! Luckily he was quite calm all day. He would lay on the floor and watch tv. I even got daddy's pillow out for him to lay on because I knew it would be a treat. Anyway, my prayers were answered and Andrew was a complete angel and left me alone to bum on the couch. It's like he knew I was sick. Now I just hope he doesn't get it...or Matt.
Here he is chillin' on the floor. I hate him in onesies, but desperate times call for desperate measures!...the boy is lucky he even got his diaper changed throughout the day!

why we'll never have a dog

My sister gave Andrew this dog....I should say annoying dog! :) It yaps...doesn't bark...and walks. Well, of course, Andrew loves to play with it. I think he's trying to figure out if it's real or not. Anyway, here's a pointless video to give you an idea of how annoying the dog is.

Andrew's thinking...how do I shut you up???...

maybe if I choke you...

or if I just stick my finger in your mouth...

Who knows!!....I'm done playing with you though!!!!

are you looking for me?

So I've noticed on my site meter that someone keeps going to google, typing in my name and coming to my blog. This is all fine and dandy, but I'm curious as to who you are. You've done it more than once. So now that you've found me... leave me a comment or send me an email. Just curious as to who you are!

And for the rest of you...here's Andrew enjoying breakfast.

debate

So I'm having a debate with a certain someone who thinks he knows everything!!! His name rhymes with BRAT! Anywho...tell me what you say when you want a door to open... is it OPEN SESAME or OPEN SAYS ME!?!?! Thanks for your help!

andrew's favorite pastime

For some reason Andrew has decided that it's fun to crawl behind the loveseat. He goes back and forth. I think he's wearing the carpet out back there. :) It's funny because he crawls back there and gets a toy from the basket and then crawls back out. Crazy boy!Instead of walking in front of the couch to get my toy...I'll go behind it!

Got my toy!....

Man! I'm busted by Mom again!!

Well, I thought I was only going to work 5 hours this week and it actually ended up being 8 1/2. Not too bad, but I'm getting tired of being up there....and kids!! Not my child tho! It amazes me how some 3 and 4 year olds don't have to clean up after themselves! One little brat...I mean girl told me she didn't know how to clean up! I said...well, you will learn today! I'm counting down the days until the end of this Bible study...10 weeks!

Monday, September 11, 2006

we're still here!

Well, I haven't blogged lately because not much has been going on...

I started working my 5 hrs. a week last week. This week I'll be working one extra day...not really looking forward to it. I've decided that when the 11 weeks are up I'm going to quit. I know it will be hard because they are desperately looking for workers. So I'm hoping they won't hound me about coming back. I have a hard time saying no, but I'm learning.

Andrew is growing like a weed! He turned 14 months on the 9th. I can't believe it! He's such a little ham. He's supposed to be taking his morning nap, but I can hear him in there talking. We did get him another dog...stuffed dog. He has one dog that he takes everywhere! Well, we were at Babies R Us the other day and Matt found him another dog. So now I have a child and two dogs to carry to WalMart, church, and to the mall!! Thanks Matt! I had found a dinosaur, giraffe, and elephant for Andrew but he pushed them all away...he wanted the dog.

Anyway, I'll leave you with this sweet picture. He will FINALLY give kisses when I ask! It was like pulling teeth! I'm not sure if you can tell in the picture, but he has his eyes closed!! The other picture he had his mouth WIDE opened! I didn't post it fearing that Broughton would make some dumb comment!

taking a stroll

Andrew LOVES being outside and enjoys taking a walk. Since it was cloudy today we figured we'd get Andrew out of the house....and Matt decided to bring the camera.

Andrew going for a stroll.

For some reason he felt like he needed to bring two toys.

After walking about 1/2 a block, Andrew decided to have a seat. After about 2 seconds he was ready to go again!!

Occasionally Andrew would get distracted by light poles and sprinklers!

After waking a quarter of a mile, I think his poor little legs just gave out on him. He just fell on the ground and skinned his knee. Daddy decided to give him a piggyback ride! Yes, I know his face looks beat red, but it wasn't until he finally stopped walking that it turned red. I tried plenty of times to carry him, but he was determined to walk!!

haircut and such

This morning I decided to cut Andrew's hair. His first haircut...even though I'm an amateur! You see, when we were at the beach Josh and Jill were saying Andrew had a mullet. Since they are family, their opinion meant nothing to me! :) The only hair that Andrew has had growing in (or it seemed like the only hair) was a patch in the back. It was so cute because it had a little curl to it!! I didn't want to cut it!...but alas, I did! (That's something Jessica would say.)The before picture....

Mommy cutting it. I know...I look like I know what I'm doing.

And the finished product! Not bad...if I do say so myself!

What a little stud!

He's learned a new sign...thank you. I'm sure he's telling me, "thank you for the great cut Mommy!"
