New Year's Eve

We just got back from a very short trip to Shreveport. Matt was off work for two days which is the only reason I went...of cours I wanted to see my family, but I won't travel with Andrew by myself because he gets bored in the back and that's no fun when it's just me. Anyway, if you are living in Shreveport and didn't get called...don't take it personally. We didn't call anyone to say we were coming in town. My parents met us there and we just had family time. Wish we could have stayed and made it to the Mitchell-Sanks wedding and big party at the BSU, but it just wasn't possible.
Well, it was nice to see my family and we had a great trip, but now comes the unpacking. (yuck) Packing is always fun...but I dread unpacking. So now I am playing catch up. The wash needs to get done and I have cleaning to do....plus taking down all the Christmas stuff. Tonight we have friends coming over to bring in the New Year!!! It's only about 6 couples, but I have a lot to do before then. We will also be kicking them out before midnight because Matt has to work early tomorrow. They knew this when we invited them...so don't think I'm gonna just kick them all out at like 10 o'clock rudely. We have great friends who party like we do. Any time we all get together we are usually all home by 10...10:30 the latest! Aren't we party animals. So with all this being said...I shouldn't be blogging. I just didn't want any nasty comments on how I haven't blogged in a while. Hope everyone has a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The day after...

Well, Christmas has come and gone. It's funny how you just want Christmas day to last a week. I love the feeling I have on Christmas. We had a nice day. I was a little bummed because they said it was going to be 70 here and I was pouting that...THAT'S NOT CHRISTMAS WEATHER!! However, it was a BEAUTIFUL day! Cool and SO nice! When Matt got back home from work (the 2nd time) we walked up to the park and pushed Andrew on the swings. Luckily we were the only ones there so Matt could swing too. :) After we hung out there we came home to play with Andrew's toys.


Andrew's been busy working on sitting up so I had to share some pics. He has to be proped up, but he's not falling over like he used to. My baby is growing up. :( Won't be long and he'll be crawling.

Christmas Day

I guess Andrew knew today was Christmas because he was wide eyed at 6:30 this morning. I was by no means ready to get up. Matt left for work at 6 and I was sure I would have another hour or so of shut eye...nope! So we got up and watched a little tv and waited on Matt to get word that he could leave work.
By 8 Andrew was ready for a nap (punk!) and so was I, but instead I started getting ready. At 9 Matt walked in the door...he's another punk b/c he didn't call to tell me and I was in the back getting ready and the house alarm went off. Freaked me out. We woke Andrew up and started opening presents. An hour later we were finished. Andrew did open presents with my help getting him started. He's a pro now! He pooped out about noon and is still sleeping. That boy got SO many presents it's crazy!! Matt and I hardly got him anything and I'm glad now b/c he has WAY too much stuff! He doesn't realize how spoiled he already is. So I am washing his new clothes and am watching his dvd...Baby Einstein. I know...it's for him, but I just wanted to see what all they hype is about. I can totally see these videos getting on my nerves.
All in all we had a great day. I really hope that our children come to realize the REAL meaning of Christmas...I mean, I knew as a kid, but I LOVED presents! I just hope we can teach them that it's not about the presents. I have seen how other children get about presents and I hope that Andrew and our other children (if we have more) don't get "bratty" about Christmas. I guess it will just depend on how we teach them and bring them up...but what do you do when it's not you who spoil them...but the grandparents? :)

Christmas is almost here!!

I can't believe that Christmas is almost here! Where has the year gone? Guess I was a little occupied with a baby coming, but really time has flown by. In the past being in a school and helping the kids make Christmas projects and stuff put me more in the mood...plus by December I was ALWAYS ready for the break. This year was different being home. Thanksgiving totally came out of nowhere and now the same for Christmas! You would think I would be counting down the days with a little one...but I mean come on...he is clueless as to what is going on. Maybe it's because I had to do all my Christmas shopping early. We took all the presents with us when we went to AR early November so we didn't have to ship them.

Matt and I will be here celebrating Christmas this year with just Andrew in Houston while both of our families celebrate Christmas in Arkansas. Matt has to work EVERY year! His work doesn't shut down for ANY holiday. Hopefully he will only have to work a couple of hours, but I have a feeling he will be there all day. If so Andrew and I will visit him. It is kind of nice because now we can start our own family traditions at home.

My day in a nutshell

I finally finished scrapping today. Not by choice...I ran out of pages for my album. So they are on order and with Christmas who knows when they will get here. I'm sure Matt is happy because our living room is back in order. Matt kept Andrew happy so I could focus too. :) (He likes when I give him credit for his work...so now everyone knows!)


Andrew and I made his handprint for Grandma & Papa Miller's Christmas tree. My parents always do a kid's tree downstairs and every year they make their own ornaments. Now I know my child is gifted, but he's not able to make his own ornament. So I helped. My dad is a little concerned because the handprint is made out of plaster. He thinks it's going to make his tree lean...and we all know I know about leaning trees!! It's pretty light tho. It should have been mailed by now, but I have been slacking lately...and scrappin'.



Andrew took a long nap this afternoon and I'm attaching some pics of how happy he is when he gets up. I don't know why he is so happy right after a nap. Not me! I'm usually crabby and have a headache because I slept too long. Matt's the same way so we don't know where he got that from.

Matt has been productive too...cleaning out junk drawer and stuff. He also bought some airfreshener to put in the airfilter and it STINKS! So just when I get rid of the nasty grease smell out of my house...now my house is going to smell like an old lady. Not just one room mind you....THE WHOLE HOUSE because it's in the filter!!! UGH

We have errands to run so I need to get going or Matt will leave me. :)

Sick days

Yesterday I was feeling so sick! It just hit me after lunch. I thought it was something I ate, but as the day went on I realized I just had a little bug. I would say it's definitely hard to be sick with a kiddo around...glad I only have one. If I had a job and no kiddo I would have totally left after lunch and vegged on the couch all afternoon sipping sprite. However, Andrew hasn't been feeling well (took him to the dr today and he said it will just pass...he has more like a cold) and that just made it worse b/c he just wanted to cuddle and I just wanted to hurl all day. I know...nice! Today I'm feeling better and actually have an appetite. So we will see what this day holds!
Oh, and to make matters even worse.. Matt decided for dinner last night that he wanted deer steak. So I'm thinking steak...you grill outside?...No, he cooks it in GREASE IN MY HOUSE! OH MY GOSH!...talk about making me even MORE sick to my stomach! My house no longer has a new smell...it STINKS like grease!!!!! YUCK!

Cookie exchange

So last night was my cookie exchange. About 20 or so girls showed up and we had a wide variety of cookies. I was SO good and only had 1/2 of a cookie. My goal was to not eat ANY, but I just had to try one. I decided today that I needed to get them out of my house or I will be eating them up! I went to CVS and bought a couple of plates, wraped them up and took them to my neighbors!! I had to admit to them that I didn't make them...I didn't want to take credit for any if they weren't good. :) Now...I just need to do some wash and scrap!!!

No scrappin'

I was supposed to scrap today, but ended up doing nothing but sort through the pictures. Jennifer Hammond Massey called me today and wanted to go Christmas shopping. I was a little hesitant in getting Andrew out in the mass of people, but Matt ended up keeping him when he got off work. We went shopping around The Woodlands Mall and...oh my gosh!...the mall was PACKED!!! They had police directing traffic out of the mall. It was so crazy! You couldn't PAY me to go shopping. I am SO glad I am done. Glad I took Andrew to see Santa when I did too. I didn't even think about school be out. So for the next two weeks I will be a hermit. I'm not getting out in that zoo!

Scrappin'

Well today will be a day of scrappin' and no bloggin'. Well obviously I am blogging now so I should say little blogging. Andrew is 5 months now and his scrapbook is 3 months behind. Have no fear!!...I will get it caught up this weekend! I will also be making 72 cookies for a cookie exchange....yes, 72 cookies! Why am I even going? Until next posting!!

Seeing Santa

We made it to the mall after meeting some friends for a morning snack. It was the perfect time to go because there was no line! I was so pumped!! When we went to check it out the other day (a week day) it was PACKED! So I walked up and put Andrew on Santa's lap and Santa says...she's a cutie...what's her name? I was all ....HELLO Santa!! Aren't you at least supposed to know that she is a HE? I mean...what kind of a Santa are you?! It's a good think Andrew didn't know any better. I'll just take it as a compliment that he didn't know. Andrew's a pretty boy!! Andrew was a little weary, but just smiled away! They let us use your own camera...obviously or we wouldn't have had pics to show!

Um..

With nothing new going on it's made me not post! We had a busy weekend with Christmas parties and birthday parties last weekend, but nothing really exciting happened. The only exciting thing was Matt's brother was in town the beginning of this week. It was good to hang out with him. Matt worked some so we had some good bonding time. He's home now.

Matt's off today and we are going to take Andrew up to see Santa! I'm so excited!! I am anxious to see what his reaction will be. If it's anything like mine at that age...he'll cry. I am determined to take my own picture because the cheapest package is $16 and I don't think that's cheap. I just want one picture! So we will see. I might get kicked out of the mall. Need to get going. I'll post a picture later with Santa if I can take my own.

Big boy

Since everyone likes looking at pictures I figure I will put another one on here!...I know, all my pics are of my husband and child. What more do you want? I really have nothing else to blog about...I don't get out much. :)
So, my little man has been pushing up and I figured I would share with everyone. He thinks he's big stuff now. When I put him in his bed he does this and then about 5 mins. later he'll be on his back making noises for me to come flip him over....hasn't quite got the rolling from back to front down yet.

Could have been a disaster!

Yesterday afternoon I walked out in the front sitting room and the Christmas tree was LEANING at a 15 degree angle!!! So I think...should I mess with it? Nah, I will probably end up with it on the floor! I call Matt at work and he was like...DON'T TOUCH IT!! I think he envisioned me on the floor with the tree on top of me had I done anything. I was SO worried it was going to come crashing down at any moment! I kept going back out there to look and luckily it was still standing (somewhat.) When Matt got home he thought it was funny...until he tried to get it to stand back up! He finally fixed it....using string! Hopefully the string will hold till Christmas morning! HA
Matt thinks that he's going to build his stand for next year! MEN!

Santa's little helper

We tried to take Christmas pictures tonight and Andrew was not very cooperative. We tried a family shot, but Andrew was too busy eating his shirt and not looking at the camera. I tried some with just him and that wasn't too good either...he's either drooling, blowing his cheeks out, or looking off in space. It was a lot easier last year. Of course next year I will probably be chasing him around the house with the camera! Does it ever get easier?

Just one of those days!

So you know how some days you don't know where your mind is?... well, I had one of those days today. I don't really know why, but here it goes...I was writing some thank you notes (Megan Strain inspired me to do them as soon as I get the gift) and figured Andrew and I would walk them down to the mailbox. (Our mailbox is in a joint one at the end of the street...don't know why but that's the thing here...maybe we have lazy mailmen here or something.) So we take the letters down and when we got back I started to clean the table off and noticed a thank you note that I had written and THOUGHT I mailed but obviously hadn't! I'm such a dork! I totally addressed the envelope and thought I had put the card in the envelope and I hadn't!! I couldn't get the letter out of the mailbox because it's one of those where you can only put something and not get anything out! So I felt like the biggest dork because now this person was going to get an empty envelope from me!! Luckily!...Matt and I went walking and when we got back home the mailman was delivering the mail. So I went down there and explained what a goofball I am and she gave me back the empty envelope! I have learned my lesson...I will always check the envelope before I mail it. Oh..and I tell Matt this story...so what does he say?...you wasted a stamp! Thanks Matthew!

Too much time on my hands!

Thursday I went up to my old school to visit with some friends. They gave me a hard time for having a blog...yet they read it all the time!! (so basically they have too much time on THEIR hands!) They have realized that I have too much time on my hands being home with a little one. Now my child is by no means neglected because of my blogging!...if anything I spoil that boy!! It won't be long and Matt will catch on to how much Andrew sleeps and he will start expecting more out of me than blogs. :) I can't help it that Andrew sleeps all day and night. I'm afraid to have another one because I'm afraid it will be the complete opposite of Andrew and right now I have it easy! I've heard people say they are ready to go back to work after 6 weeks of having a little one...not me! This is the BEST job I've ever had and don't think I will ever be ready to go back to a "job."
Oh...the tree will be getting decorated tonight!!!

O Christmas Tree!!

We have had our tree for two days now and it still sits bare!!! Pretty sad! We just haven't had time to decorate it. Well, I have during the day, but I HATE putting the lights on by myself so I am waiting on Matt to help. We haven't been home at night to do it so hopefully it will get done this weekend. Tonight we went over to a friends house and their tree was all decorated. Andrew didn't know what to think. He's probably wondering why our tree doesn't sparkle like their tree did.

Just have to show off!

Here's our little cutie patootie! (however you spell it) This is what he did while daddy put the tree on the stand and I directed daddy on which way it was leaning. Every year Matt battles with the tree stand....but that's a whole other blog in itself!
Oh...and yeah, Andrew needed a bib on! drool boy!

Well...

I know everyone is dying to know...well I won!!! We got a fir tree!! I've married a smart man. He doesn't want to listen to me whine all night if we hadn't gotten it. Now it just needs to be decorated. I think that will happen tomorrow night. We have too much going on....dinner, wash, and dishes! Poor Andrew..we were running around all day today that he hardly got a good nap in. He was sooo tired that he just fell asleep on the floor. Too cute!!

Hanging up lights

This afternoon we hung...I mean Matt hung up the lights outside. He did a marvelous job!! (yes, he reads this.) The neighbors were harassing us because last year we had them up by now. All we need now is our tree....that will be a fight! I want a fir tree and my forestry major hubby wants a spruce tree. I don't really care for the spruce. I think we are going to get it tomorrow...so we shall see who wears the pants in this family!!! ;)

The days after...

Well, it's taken me a while to post because I can't reach the keyboard over my big belly!!! Oh my gosh! I have eaten WAY too much food and I just can't stop!!! AGH!! I just eat, eat, eat...even when I'm not hungry!! Oh my! So I've probably put on all the weight I took off after having Andrew...and then some! That's it....no more food till Christmas!!!

I did not fight everyone and their grandmother at the stores either. I've seen the news...pushing, fighting, peoples wigs falling off. It's crazy! What's this world coming to? I mean, is it worth it? I know when I go to WalMart and it's packed I get very annoyed and in a bad mood. Why would you want to be like that before Christmas? Not me. I just sit at home and watch the news. Luckily, I am done with my Christmas shopping...well, I still have Matt, but he's easy.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I have a lot to be thankful for this year as every year. We did our turkey dinner last night because we were sent some stuff from Honey Baked Ham. Which was delicious! We ate it last night because today we are going to some friends. I love not having to cook a turkey!! Anywho, Andrew had fun playing in my dinner last night. Kinda gross..I know, but when I pulled him out of it he cried! He enjoyed himself.

A day at the park

It was such a beautiful day today that we decided to go to the park in our neighborhood. It was Andrew's first time there so we had to take pics. :) Enjoy!!!

My favorite times of the day

Well I was going to title this my favorite time of the day but realized there's more than just one time.

The mornings...I love the mornings with Andrew. (Matt's usually at work or I would include him.) When he wakes up he is talking and giggling in bed. If it's cold I go get him and bring him back to my bed. He will eat and just lay in bed with me for a couple of hours. It's so great. We usually just stay in bed an hour because my neighbor will usually call to walk and then reality sets in...that I have other things to do than just stay in bed all day.

I love the afternoons because Matt gets home at 3 ( I know...barf!) and this is when Andrew is most playful. I also love to watch Andrew and Matt play. They are so cute together.

And my last favorite time is... BATH TIME!!! There are days I think I am more wet than Andrew who is actually in the tub! He LOVES the bath and it's just precious!! He kicks, splashes, giggles, and always grins that cute grin showing all his gums! It's fun times!!!

The big 3-0!!

Today is Matt's birthday. hehehe!! He is turning 30. I laugh because it's about time he caught up with me. Everyday after my birthday I have to hear how I am older than he is. I just tell him I am older and wiser! He got his birthday present ealier this month so he has no surprises today....when I buy an early birthday present I still expect presents on my bday...I'm such a brat! So I have decided to do some major cleaning!! Sounds like I have a dirty house! :) Well, I just never fully unpacked and haven't caught up on wash since we have been home. I have caught up on my sleep tho. :) Guess I should finish up while Andrew is sleeping.....what a life!!

Go to bed sleepy head!

Well for some reason Andrew is fighting going to bed tonight. He usually goes down at 7:30 and sleeps till 8:00, but not tonight! He went down at 7 and woke up at 7:45. Guess he thought he would take a little nap. I don't think so little guy!!! So while he's crying I'm here blogging! Some mom I am. Well, I've tried everything else! Don't judge me. I have cried plenty of days and look how I turned out! :) PERFECT!!! JK I can't focus with him fussing....which could also be because he had his 4 month shots yesterday. :( He did NOT like that one bit and has been fussy ever since. So off I go to tend to him.

We're back!!!

We made it back safely!! It was a little stressful trip. We stayed at 5 different places in a total of 9 days. My point?...waaay too much unpacking and packing in a week. My house was clean before we left and now it looks like a tornado hit it. Matt is unloading the van and just putting it all in the front room. I hate unpacking after a trip! hate it!
Oh and yes, I just said van! I NEVER thought I would be a minivan mom...but now I am. I had to give up the 4 runner for a van. It was totally my idea. I hated loading and unloading Andrew in the 4runner. It's SO much nicer doing that in the van. Especially b/c the doors just slide right open...now I am just trying to justify having a van!!!
Matt just got home with groceries (yes, he does the grocery shopping....I hate that place and will hardly go alone!) so I need to go help.

Vacation time!

Well it's that time of the year....HUNTING SEASON!!! So it's our sesonal time to visit AR while Matt goes hunting. I can't wait to see the fam b/c it's been a while, but I dread the drive. It will take us 8 hrs which will be broken up with a stop in Shreveport. I need to pack and quit blogging! Someone has to pack Andrew and I know it won't be Matt...oh my. That boy wouldn't know what to pack. Of course I want to pack EVERYTHING Andrew owns!

Go Astros!!!

How about them Astros??!! I am not a big baseball fan b/c in my opinion the game takes WAAAAY too long, but I always love when my home team wins!!! I actually watched Lost and just kept flipping to see how the Astros were doing. Guess everyones a big fan now. :)

Yes sir, that's my baby!!

Yep, that's my baby with former President George Bush. Monday we headed to College Station to help in the revealing of the Bush locomotive #4141. I didn't help in the revealing, but Matt did. He had to do a little skit with Bush. It was really neat. Before it got started they took us back stage to meet Bush and he wanted to hold Andrew. I was SO worried that Andrew would spit up on him, but luckily he didn't.

Playing Around

So I was inspired to do this by my 13 year old niece...she always knows what's cool!! Don't worry Kristi...you inspired me too!! Anyway, I don't know what it is, but I feel like I need to keep up with the times. I guess I think if I keep up with the times I won't get old!!! I wish!! Plus I figure everyone will want to know my thoughts!!! I have some great ones every so often!! Hopefully I will keep up with this better than Andrew's website.
