doctor visit

Well, we just got back from the doctor and he doesn't think it's ringworm. He said in order to know 100% he would have to scrape his face and look under a microscope. He and I both said no to that! He thinks its eczema. Stacy did you say that? I can't remember. So he gave me some lotions to use and we will see if that will clear it up. I have a friend growing up who had eczema and remember thinking...that stuff can get gross. He said to put lotion on the dry spots I find and it shouldn't flare up....especially since he is 7 1/2 months old and this is his first time to get it. I hope he's right!

mardi gras

We went to Bossier City, LA this weekend to visit my family. It was a short trip but we had a great time! On Saturday afternoon we went to the Krewe of some parade in Shreveport. My family gets all into Mardi Gras. They LOVE the parades and the King Cake...which I don't like because they have too much sugar on them. It was supposed to rain so Matt (who doesn't really care for parade) went to visit Chet and my mom kept Andrew. I guess we'll have to go back next year so Andrew can experience it!! Andrew had a fun time playing with his cousins and was exhausted when we got home. :)

As for Andrew's ringworm...it's very light, but still there. I have an apointment tomorrow at 9 so we will see what the doctor has to say. I'm just ready for it to go away!!!

ringworm

YUCK!...the name just sounds gross. Ringworm...see, it's gross! That's what Andrew has. Where the heck he picked it up from...who knows! He's had it for almost a month. Every time I think it's gone...it pops back up. It's very little and right by his mouth. I have heard that it's hard to get rid of, but I'm wondering if it will be even harder because he constantly has drool on it. Anyone have any advice? I'd post a picture (you can hardly see it), but I know how some people are about pictures being posted all the time. Don't want the blog nazi after me!!!

this and that

Today's been a busy day. I've been doing all the "housework" and am now making dinner. I stink like onions...could be because I haven't showered yet today...but really it's because I've been cutting up onions! I hate that job! Too bad you aren't here Jill or that would be your job. :)

I'm trying to get things ready because I think we might go meet family in Shreveport this weekend. (I like to come home from trips to a spotless house.) Sorry I'll miss the big Mardi Gras party friends, but family calls. My parents aren't getting any younger and any time they will meet in Shreveport I try to take them up on it. Maybe we'll hit a parade while we are there. I think Andrew would enjoy that.

just to post

I am writing...just to post something. I don't really having anything important or intelligent (no comment Jessica!) to write about.
Matt was home by noon today and we decided to go look for Andrew a new car seat. It's a little sad because it makes me realize that he keeps getting bigger and won't stay little forever! :( I love having a baby. I kind of wish they would stay babies a little longer....anyway. We did find a car seat. There are a ton to choose from and it just makes you ask yourself what makes them all different and what makes one better? What a pain. How are people supposed to know what to get when it's their first child? I had researched different car seats, but couldn't really find the information I was looking for. Guess I was looking for a website that would say....Shandra, _____is the best car seat for Andrew. The one we chose had good ratings though....it's no Britax like you rich people get. I was tempted to get the Roundabout Britax (it was the cheapest of the 5 there), but I'm going to see how this one works and if Andrew likes it.
Tomorrow night we are going to my friends who is having the twins. Matt's going to help her husband put swings and beds together....so it will be a couple of days before I post again (Deborah, Megan B., Jill, and Bradley.) So don't be leaving me rude comments!!!

sippy cup and weekend report

Let me just start off by saying that I got Andrew a sippy cup and he can actually drink out of it!! I was SO excited!!! A friend told me about the Nuby soft spout sippy cup and I picked one up for him from Babies R Us this weekend. Thanks everyone for the great advice!!

Speaking of Babies R Us...this weekend my in-laws were in. Matt's brother and his wife. (Check her blog out http://weldiesparents.blogspot.com/) So they came in for the weekend and Jill (my sister-in-law) had no idea what I had planned for her!! I have a friend who is pregnant w/ twin girls who was put on bed rest about 3 weeks ago because she started having contractions. I had gone to my friends house to look through all her baby stuff and realized that she is NOT ready to have the babies yet. She does have a lot of stuff, but not much of the stuff she will "need" in the beginning. Being on bed rest she can't get out and her husband is clueless (like most guys) as to what she would need. So, I volunteered to take care of the situation since she was there for me all during my pregnancy. I was thrilled that I could repay the help. The only thing was...Jill was going w/ me! :) The guys went fishing while we went shopping. We returned stuff and about 400 dollars later I felt like my friend was set. (Now granted smocked dresses are not a "need", but a definite must have!) Thanks Jill for being a trooper and entertaining Andrew the whole time!! It was good see y'all and we had a nice visit!!!

I was asked to post some new pics of Andrew. I just couldn't decide which ones I liked the best. I figure since it's my blog no one can tell me what to do...I'll post as many pics. of my precious boy as I want!! Sorry about all the drool. Can you tell we are teething?

sippy cups

I'm sure those of you without children have clicked off my blog already...but those of you still reading...I need some ideas!

We have introduced the sippy cup to Andrew maybe a month ago. I admit that I am not persistent in giving it to him daily, but I try. Anyway, he doesn't understand it. All he wants to do is chew on it. I've taken the spill proof part out so I can kind of pour it into his mouth (it doesn't pour out quickly), but he's not getting the concept of the cup. It drives me crazy!!! Matt has more patience for it than I do. Any ideas as to getting him to actually suck from the cup and not just chew on it??

home sweet home

We made it home. Pretty uneventful flight...well, except for Andrew NOT wanting to fall asleep in my arms. I knew this would happen. He was SO tired and would not go to sleep. Our flight was packed and the seat next to me was full. I was bummed. They put people on our flight b/c Pres. Bush was flying in and they shut down the airport for that...or so I was told. So they added people from the next flight to our flight. Anyway, Andrew definitely had his moments, but people were still very friendly and said how good he was. Of course my comment to them was... you must have been asleep and sitting in the back! :) So now we are home and Matt hasn't left Andrew's side!!
