painting project

Yesterday Matt and I decided we would take advantage of him being off a lot this week and do some painting. When we built this house they would only paint all the walls one color. Since we've moved in we've only painted the computer room and Andrew's room. Did I just say we?...I meant Matt. I just don't really care to paint. It's too much work. :) I know, I'm a brat.

So, we started with Andrew's bathroom. It's not too big so I figured my ADD self could help. It didn't take us long and has made a world of difference!

It looks a wee bit lighter in this picture.

What was Andrew doing while we painted you ask? Well, he was taking a nap but woke up when we were waiting for it to dry. He entertained himself with the mirror for a while...

Who is that handsome boy?

Then he tried to play in the bathroom. He was DENIED by me!! Here's what he thought of that...

What a mean mommy I have!

He finally gave up on the fight and went to see if Dr. Phil could give him some advice...

I think Dr. Phil is brainwashing my child!

He decided Dr. Phil wasn't for him and played in his tent.

Today will be filled with going to the pool and relaxing. We have plenty of other rooms to paint but no funding yet. Plus it's SO hot! Another project probably won't happen until the fall.

family times

I guess it's time for an update. I'm tired of looking at the last post...and the 'blog nazi' (JILL) wrote me an ugly note saying I needed to update!

My parent's came in Wednesday night and my sister, Kristy, and her family came in Thursday. We had a nice visit. My parents had us play some game they play in "The Village" called Marbles. As I took this picture I said, "say marbles" and only my parents did..obviously. Todd couldn't pose for the picture. He was too busy trying to figure out his next move.

My parents could also be found playing Sudoku!

All the boys could be found playing computer games against each other. It must have been dinner time when we took this picture because that was the only time they stopped!!

Andrew enjoyed all the attention he got from everyone. My sister has four kids so Andrew got to be held at all times!!! He was VERY upset when they were loading the car up to leave. Guess he knew his friends were leaving.

EAT

Here's Andrew using his sign language for eat...just had to brag a bit. He only knows about 3 signs, but I've been impressed with how well he's caught on. Yes, the video stinks because I took it with my phone!

just for Karen

My sister, Karen, has recently started reading my blog. She told me I need to get a new background because my old one was blah....she can be opinionated at times. :) I normally don't do what she says, but I was getting tired of the old background. So, there you go Karen!!! I still have some things I want to fix on it, but Andrew has other plans for me right now!

Thanks Kim for the link and Kristi for the help!!

pool boys

My friend, Dawn, came over today with her little boy. We walked up to the pool in Andrew's new wagon!! He wasn't too sure what to think of the ride, but Gavin loved it. I know the pictures kind of dark but that's what you get with a camera phone!! And I'm not sure what some of those people are doing in the background!

just fillin' ya in

I guess I'll fill y'all in on where I've been lately! (You know you care or you wouldn't visit my blog.)

I went down to see Jennifer this week. She lives down in the Clear Lake area. She had a baby about 2 1/2 months ago and he is PRECIOUS!! He was such a good baby. Didn't make a fuss while we were there. Now my child on the other hand....just kidding Andrew! I figured he would be all about her stairs, but he could have cared less. So it was good to see Jennifer and meet little Benjamin. If I was smart I would have taken a picture to post. Oh well!

Tomorrow Andrew has a friend coming over to go to the pool with us. No, I'm not taking both boys by myself. His mommy will come too. Hopefully they will both enjoy it. I don't think Gavin is quite walking yet so I don't know what he's going to think of the whole splashpad thing.

Andrew is doing well. I think he's been teething because he's been waking up the last couple of nights. He was running a temp yesterday (well, the dr would say it's not a temp.) of 100 so I'm sure it's just teething.

Lately we've been working on teaching him
sign language . I know some people are totally against it and think it can slow a baby's speech, but I don't agree. I know children who do it and think it's great!! I'm really only teaching him about 5 signs (eat, food, more, milk, all done) to help us out....so don't try starting a debate with me!! :) Anyway, he's been doing the sign for more and today I've noticed him doing all done...just not sure if he realizes he's saying all done.

I have family coming in next week. Some of them haven't been here (shout-out to the Kempfs!) and we are looking forward to their visit. Think we might go down to Galveston (Michelle any tips on a good beach down there or do they all stink?)

Well, that's all from here. Need to get dinner going!

splashpad

Today we took Andrew to the back pool in the neighborhood. They have this splashpad area that Andrew enjoys playing in with his daddy. They run all through the water and Andrew loves it. Thought I'd share some pictures Matt took with his phone....

a year ago today

Since Andrew has turned one, all I can think about is what we were doing a year ago each day. I can really only remember the first week after his birth because after that the sleepless nights took over.
